PDT Gives Back through our Christmas Child Project

Eleven years ago, Haden Boliek, owner of Pediatric Developmental Therapy (PDT) decided that instead of an employee Christmas party, the practice would do something to give back to the communities we serve. And so, the Christmas Child Project was born.

Haden felt strongly that each child should have a special Christmas. No child should have to go back to school after Christmas, and have to say they didn’t get anything. So, the staff of PDT set out to make a difference for as many underprivileged children as we were able. Our guiding scripture was, “Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessings of the Lord your God which he has given you.” Deuteronomy 16:17

Each year, the number of children PDT provides for grows. Along with the support of local businesses, we were able to give Christmas to over 100 children in our area! In 2015, PDT was able to provide Christmas to 120 children in 50 families in Cumberland, Hoke, Robeson, Moore, Richmond and Scotland counties… amazing!

When PDT provides Christmas for a child it does not just provide a single gift but clothes, toys and household needs. Each child usually receives around $100 worth of toys and supplies. PDT, at times with the help of businesses in our community, has even been able to provide beds for children who were sleeping on the floor, couches for a family with nothing to sit on, and more throughout the years.

Each year, our PDT family gathers on a Saturday in December for an awesome time as we provide Christmas for these needy children and families in our area. We team up, are given a list to buy for a specific child, given a set amount of money to spend and then we go out to make a child’s Christmas special. What a sight it has been in the past to see so many people working together to make a child’s Christmas! It truly is amazing!

Our staff returns to wrap presents, fellowship and prepare the packages for the delivery. The packages are picked up the following morning by case workers and contract site directors to be distributed to the families. Because the entirety of the Christmas Child Project is done anonymously, the children are not aware of who provided the gifts they receive.

Pediatric Developmental Therapy and its employees are truly blessed. It is our honor to Give More. Serve More. Inspire More. We hope you will be inspired to make a child’s Christmas special, too!
